All About Us
The National Capital AAZK Chapter has been active since 2006. Since its inception, our chapter has gown in both size and diversity. Currently, our membership is comprised of animal care staff, education staff, and volunteers/interns.
Our Chapter works to provide opportunities to our members through various activities such as Professional Development Grants, social events, In-DEPTHS, and National AAZK Conferences. We award Professional Development Grants to two member applicants each year, which have been used to carry out conservation work, attend courses, travel to AAZK conferences, and more.
In-DEPTH (Development, Engagement, Professionalism, Training, Husbandry), are hour-long, seminars that take a closer look at conservation, animal care, and zookeeping as a whole. While these seminars are often led by animal care staff, we have also featured guest speakers.
Check out the galleries below to 'meet' our current officers and check out various events and presentations featuring our members!
